On Saturday, August 23rd, we had the wonderful opportunity to sponsor the unveiling of the Vermont's Long Trail District Cub Scouts in their efforts to set a new world record. Alan LaRose of New England Laser, an Eagle Scout since 1978 jumped at the opportunity to contribute to the cause.
New England Laser provided the laser equipment as the Scouts built a 600’ pinewood derby track, measuring nearly twice the length of the previous Guinness World Record holder. While the prior week’s rain caused some concern, volunteers and Scouts successfully fixed the warping and the track got smoother as the event wore on.
Indeed, success was the standard for the day. Three cars went the entire 600’ distance: that of David Buley, Cubmaster of Shelburne’s Pack 607; Porter Walbridge Jr. of Pack 717 in Barre; and Alexander Bruder of Hyde Park’s Pack 891. As we write this, paperwork to certify the new world record is on its way to Guinness. On the whole, the event was a triumph, and also a whole lot of fun for both the Scouts and the community. Thanks for letting us contribute!
Another testimonial from one of our customers:
Working with Joe and Alan, owners of New England Laser, is excellent. They never let me down, and I have always enjoyed the benefit of their sincerity and good advice. I have been purchasing levels, lasers and other layout equipment with New England Laser for many years now. Alan and Joe both have a great knowledge of the equipment and keep giving me the right answers as to service & repairs, new equipment and training. Pickup and delivery is terrific. Whether you expect the best or not, you’re going to get the best. That’s just the way they are.
